So before the year ended we have invested about 400k into a franchise which we are soon to open in one of the local village malls. I know its a steep amount just to open a kiosk but I had wanted my wife to learn about how to open a business pretty quickly. Admittedly, its put a strain on our relationship as it seems she just wants to stay as a housewife. I know its a noble and tough job but I am worried she may be left clueless if I, the sole breadwinner, suddenly die early (hopefully not in a long time, but you never know).
Anyway we are 2/3rds of the way through and are set to open up in about a week. I am not truly concerned about making a profit right away but again do want to learn from the experience. I think of it as tuition.
Another side effect is that its taken a big hit on our net worth. Which is down by 400k as I dont count the business franchise etc as an asset. I also plan to buy a second hand car this month as my wife and I now overlap in using the family car. I had found one for around 350k which pretty much blows through a lot of our savings. Although we wont touch any of our investments. Those are sacred. :)
Wish us luck and success, please! This will go a long way to helping us in our journey to FI!
